You can set the representative ‘Unit code’, the ‘Name’, and a flag ‘Is Base’. At most one unit can be selected as ‘Is Base’.The meaning of ‘IsBase' flag is described later in 'Packing Structures’ sections.
Note |
---|
”Unit Code” is a constant unit identifier - after you set it, you cannot update it, you can only remove these unit and create a new one |
...
SKU merges packing definition from the grup, and defined directly. Entries defined directly on the SKU-level takes priority:
...
By default, PackOS requires direct mapping definition PackOS can infer any indirect mappings between units.
i.e. if the following is defined
A → B
B → C
You don’t need to specify the reverse (B → C, and C → B) - this is handled automatically.
However, the definition above is not enough to calculate and transitive conversions (A → C, you need to specify it directly.
‘Is Base’ Unit
The only exception for the requirement of direct conversion is the ‘Base unit’ setting.
You can select 1 at most such base unit per factory, this can be then used as a ‘common denominator’ for all conversions.
Info |
---|
Don’t confuse ‘Is Base’ unit flag in the unit dictionary, and ‘Base unit’ selected as the unit in which the line should display production - these are two, unrelated settings. |
Selecting the ‘Is Base’ unit is not required - then all conversions needs to be defined explicitly.
For the example above - if B was selected as a factory ‘base unit’, the conversion A → C would work.

Planned improvements:
We plan to:
...
Display what is the current active packing structure
...
Remove ‘Is Base' unit flag
...
Enable ‘transitive’ behaviour of units - defining A → B, and B → C, will enable also A → C
...
C → A)
After defining the key unit conversions, you can see a list of inferred entries:

Unit conversions are applied on the line (and included machines)) when an order for a specific SKU is activated. You can view recently activated packing structures by clicking the “Production” on dashboard
...
And switching to “Unit conversions history” page, at the bottom:
